Are you one of those folks who sees a cool website and immediately goes to view its source? Do acronymns like HTML5 and CSS3 get your heart beating a little faster? Does “Sass” mean something different to you than it does to your non Web-developer friends? If so, then you might be a good candidate to join the Palantir team!
Palantir.net is a renowned design, development, and strategy firm that uses open source technologies to help enable people to share information in new and exciting ways, and we're looking for talented Front-End Developers to help us build sites for the Drupal content management platform.
Why work for us?
- You'll have the opportunity to work with a world-class team on Web projects for clients who are as passionate about what they do as we are about we do.
- We work regular 40-hour work weeks. Then, we go home and do other things, because it's what we do outside of work that inspires and motivates us.
- We offer a full benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance, plus an IRA, and paid time off for holidays and vacation. Not to mention our competitive salaries.
- We foster and support professional development, and provide time for open source community involvement.
- Palantir’s office is located in the heart of Chicago’s vibrant North Side, with easy access from Metra and other public transit.
Position Summary:
We're looking for talented, resourceful front-end developers who either have existing Drupal experience or are willing to learn. You should have strong experience with standards-compliant, semantic HTML and CSS, a solid knowledge of JavaScript, DOM-scripting and familiarity with JavaScript frameworks like JQuery. Experience and familiarity with responsive and “mobile-first” site development is a plus.

While your primary working environment will be a Mac, you will need to use Windows virtual machines and other browser/platform testing environments.
This is a full-time, on-site position in our Chicago office, though we will consider exceptional applicants for remote positions.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the design, development, quality assurance, implementation, and support of browser-based software applications using both proprietary and open source development tools.
- Participate in the development of Web site designs, project functional specifications, and wireframes with other front-end developers, team members, clients, and external partners.
- Support project managers and tech leads with client interface and follow-up.
- Work with project managers, tech leads, and other team members to create user interaction documentation and interface requirements.
- Work closely with other team members to ensure a functional, buildable site, and rewarding user experience.
- Participate in client training sessions and workshops.
Experience:
- Expert knowledge of HTML and CSS.
- Proficient with JavaScript (especially jQuery).
- Strong understanding of HTML design capabilities and constraints of various platforms and browsers; knowledge of Web usability and accessibility standards and best practices in Web interface design.
- Knowledge of and proficiency with the Drupal platform.
- Understanding of server-side and database technologies, especially PHP and MySQL.
